Cary Komoto (he/him) serves as the Dean of the Liberal Arts and Sciences at Lake Superior College, a role he has been in since December 2022. Prior to that Komoto was the Dean of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at Normandale Community College for 11 years. Before that he was a professor of Geography for more than 20 years at the University of Wisconsin – Barron County. He earned a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy, all from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Art has always been important to him as an integral and indispensable part of life. Komoto is pleased to serve on the Board of Directors for the Duluth Art Institute to help promote the importance of art and to help make art accessible to all.
