Art has always been a central part of my life, viewing and making art is my version of therapy!
Growing up, I pursued my curiosity of art through hours spent in museums and taking art classes. I took classes on everything from lost-wax bronze to ceramics. I am enthusiastically mediocre at all but enjoy every moment of it.
I was lucky to be surrounded by good artists growing up! I had a front-row seat to watch my stepfather successfully explore his creativity through every type of art. Stained glass, painting, stone sculpture, lost wax, quilting, functional wood working, etc.
In my 20+ years working in human resources and management, I’ve seen how creativity, connection, and inclusion strengthen teams and communities.
I joined the Duluth Art Institute because I believe in the power of art to transcend boundaries. Art helps us reframe our relationships with each other and harmonize over the creation and appreciation of art.
The Duluth Art Institute helps us build a strong sense of community and provides a creative and peaceful place for community members to learn about each other. Art fosters empathy, dialogue, and deep connection. The DAI is an integral part of Duluth’s creative community, and I am grateful to be able to help as the organization moves forward.
