Artist Avigail Manneberg works across media: painting, drawing, video, and performance. Shared Bodies showcases abstract acrylics on canvas using soft, ambient colors. Emerging female figures and hands embody birth, physicality, and death. Manneberg asks: with the loss of one’s parents, to what extent is one uprooted from their physical place perceived as home? Through this exhibition, Manneberg challenges how one defines, imagines, builds, and rebuilds home.
Her work is in direct response to personal and global life events; for example, the chaos experienced by those fleeing conflict. “At a time of continual flux, my art grapples with national and cultural identity through the case study of my own history in relation to my home country of Israel.”
