Call for Teaching Artists
Do you love art and love to teach?
The Duluth Art Institute is always seeking enthusiastic community artists to teach art classes. Teaching at the DAI is fun, rewarding, and provides integral arts programming to a community that craves it. Teachers are compensated at a fair and competitive rate. Teaching artists working in a variety of media and artforms are encouraged to submit course proposals for review.

Teaching Artist Key Qualifications:
- Experienced artist with a solid artistic skill set
- Experience doing community engagement work with diverse populations is a plus
- Experience developing a thoughtful, fun, creative, and culturally appropriate lesson plan and class curriculum
- Can provide clear and thoughtful feedback to students, both in group and one-on-one settings.
- Flexible and can work in a variety of studio environments with large and diverse groups of people.
- Punctual, organized, communicates in a timely fashion with DAI staff
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design and implement a well-planned lesson
- Communicate with Education Coordinator about basic supply needs, curriculum development, model requests, and lesson plans
- Arrive 15-30 minutes before class to set up
- Manage classroom time to appropriately clean the studio space with students before end of class
- Remain respectful of students, renters, and DAI staff

FAQ
If you have specific tools/equipment requirements for your course, please reach out to the DAI to inquire about them. The DAI has a clay studio, printmaking equipment, fiber arts equipment, and countless other studio tools for instructors and students to use.
Currently, this is an ongoing call for proposals. Typically, classes are posted for registration 6-9 weeks before they begin.
